As the Bell Tolls
By Ian Stevens

Can anyone hear that?
Does anyone stop to listen?
The ringing in the air
That which lies beyond the silence
pervading throughout each and every person.
Does anybody care?
Days pass and so many take life for granted;
Taking in oxygen with breathing,
hearing and yet not actually listening,
looking around without really seeing,
living without actually being.
So many people yet so much emptiness;
the miracle of a single flower goes unnoticed,
the smell of the fresh autumn breeze never taken.
Unappreciated and abandoned,
deserted and forsaken.
Men die with each passing day,
yet no one cares.
So many on the wrong road,
so many just cast astray,
so many just walking away,
never stopping to look around.
Fading in time,
falling to the ground
as Death comes to take them away,
one by one,
seconds ticking life away:
Tick,
Tick,
Tick,
Each heartbeat and breath numbered,
but so many forget:

Life isn't measured by the amount of breaths you take,
but only by the moments that take your breath away.”
Make life worth living,
be someone to be remembered
for someday
the Reaper will come to lead you from this place,
and he will ring a bell
someday...
Can anyone hear that?
Does anyone stop to listen?
The ringing in the air
That which lies beyond the silence.
It is Death coming
as the bell tolls...
